Who is this dog for?

Primarily as a companion for my dad Jerry. 84 years young. Lost his chocolate Labrador to cancer 2 years ago and is ready for a new companion. Looking for a smaller dog that is as loyal and loveable as she was. Myself and my husband are my dad's daily helpers and will be the co owners of the new family member.
We have always had larger dogs and look forward to adding a "big dog in a small package" to our family.

Why do you want a Pembroke?
We love that Corgi's are an active breed. That thy like to be with you and a part of things. I have always thought them to be a beautiful and adorable breed. Small but sturdy and ready for adventure!

Activities planned with Pembroke:
We would take long walks and hike the many trails in our area. We also love long car rides and some travel. We have spent some winters in Florida and plan to resume spending some time in a warmer climate again. Playing in the shallow water of one of our many area lakes on hot summer days is a certainty. We are looking for a dog that would be included in everything that we do. We are active outdoor people but also like to kick back and snuggle on the couch!

Where would Pembroke spend the majority of the time:
With my elderly father in his home. He misses the constant companionship of a dog best friend. We are 3 doors down in the same community and would be responsible for the majority of outdoor daily exercise.
