Who is this dog for?

This Pembroke Corgi would be for me. I am 33 and live alone with 2 cats. I'm looking for a Corgi that loves people and would be happy to join me for walks around downtown and hiking. I have a fenced in yard as well for the Corgi to run around and play in.

Why do you want a Pembroke?
I haven't spent much time with a Corgi, but based on my research, I believe they would be the perfect pet for me. I am looking for a dog that is smaller in stature, active and likes to be social. I have several friends and family members with children, so I want a dog that is good with people. I admire the Corgi love-ability, loyalty and protective traits.

Activities planned with Pembroke:
We would…
go for walks around the neighborhood/downtown
play with niece and nephew, and friends children
hiking (not long hikes)
run around the fenced-in yard and play with toys
cuddle-up on the couch and watch movies
teach the dog tricks to challenge its intellegence

Will handle mistakes Pembroke makes like this:
Generally, I would calmly redirect and reward the dog when it behaves positively.

Discipline:
Verbally telling the dog no, redirecting, reinforcing positive behavior.

Where would Pembroke spend the majority of the time:
I work from 8-5 so the Pembroke would mostly be home during the day. Depending on what is best for the animal, I am happy to work to crate train the Pembroke or allow it to roam the house while I am gone. On the weekends, I am mostly at home and would be spending plenty of quality time with the dog.

Play & exercise:
I would take the dog for long walks in the morning and have some outside time in my front fenced-in yard playing catch or tug-of-war. In the afternoon, I would take the dog for a walk and play outside again. During the weekends, I generally like to be more active and imagine going hiking and spending more time outside.
