Who is this dog for?

We have been wanting a corgi or a corgi mix for our family since moving to our house. We have a nice half acre yard and a lot of time and love to give

Why do you want a Pembroke?
I've been researching what kin of dog would fit in with our family and I've just really fallen in love with Corgis. They are really beautiful dogs. The temperament, life span, affection needs, size, and everything else really fits with what we are looking for in a dog.

Activities planned with Pembroke:
We live on a very quiet street with no traffic. There is a great park across the street with a ton of walking trails that everyone takes there dogs along. We have a few dog park right near us as well that I would love to visit. Also since we live in Holland, MI, we are five minutes from a few Lake Michigan beaches. I would really enjoy taking my dog there.

Will handle mistakes Pembroke makes like this:
Make a distraction in order to snap them out of the behavior, firmly say no, and then tell them to sit.

Discipline:
My number one technique with my kids or animals is positive reinforcement. I think praising them when they do well is a lot better for the soul than always punishing. Of course that doesn't mean that kids or dogs can take over the house hold so, in that case I would use correction of the behavior only if he/she is actively exhibiting it (after the fact is pointless)

Where would Pembroke spend the majority of the time:
Since someone is home everyday, they would just spend time with the family

People at home during the day?
My husband works a 6-2:30 first shift job and I work a Friday-Sunday job. Our dog would only be alone for a little while on Fridays only as I am home all week.

Where would dog eat?
There is a space in the kitchen for the dog bowls. The cats have there own room in the downstairs that they use that can be dog proofed

Where would dog sleep:
In our room on a large, comfy dog bed.

Play & exercise:
We have a park across the street with trails, dog parks all around us, and a 0.5 acre yard. The kids like to be outside a lot and my youngest plays at the park nonstop. The dog will be able to play all day outside along with my boys.
