Why do you want a Pembroke?
 My grandparents had a corgi named Odie growing up (and a cat named Garfield… yes they looked like the iconic duo lol) he was a great dog and one of the best dogs I’ve met. I’ve wanted one since. I’ve also read about how they’re very accommodating to living situations and I don’t plan on moving anytime soon, but being in college that is possible.

Activities planned with Pembroke:
 Daily walks, when Im at work and school I already found a doggy daycare I plan on taking my little companion too so they aren’t lonely. I live by the beach so in the summer plenty of beach trips (if they like water), and lots of trips to the pet store for new toys and socializing for my buddy!

Will handle mistakes Pembroke makes like this: 		If my dog makes a mistake, I understand it happens, if it’s an accident like potty in house I’d tell my pup no and tell them potty outside then follow with a potty trip outside to show them (how I trained my previous animals and they’re all great!), if it’s a chewing problem tell them no and show them the proper toys to chew on, maybe get a safe no chew spray (plenty of research on safety before buying the spray though)

 Occasionally crate training timeout for five minutes if they really did something bad, tell them no and no treats for awhile until they’re good.

Why do you want a Pembroke?
 I absolutely love dogs in general and love corgis. I think they’re adorable. I like that they are sassy and goofy. I’ve grown up with dogs my whole life. No direct corgi experience. I grew up/ helped train a cattle husky dog. I know corgis are herding dog.

Activities planned with Pembroke:
 I have about a two mile walk way by my apartment. I think training is always a good idea so probably classes. My sister lives 8 min from me and has a yard, so we would visit them. Lots of toys and belly rubs/butt patts. I also like to do games like hide and seek with treats.

 A walk everyday. Park plays, I like long leads and fields so the dog can run supervised. Toys and games like hide and seek. I often will play with my dogs(if they want) while I watch tv at night. Sister had a yard that will be fenced by summer to free run around. I visits them anywhere from once to a couple times a week. I would bring the pup along.

 The pooch will be for myself and my 3 kids. We have always loved Corgi's and always wanted to adopt one.

Why do you want a Pembroke?
 I just find Corgi's the most adorable breed. They always seem happy. An old friend has had Corgi's and they are so smart. They look like they are smiling. I've just always loved them since I was a child and always wanted to adopt one. Then my daughter read some books on them and she told me she wanted to adopt one so I was looking online and talked to my friend that has had Corgi's for years and she suggested your organization.

 We live on an 86 acre pine plantation but currently the only other animal is our 12 year old cat Mia. She is mostly outside especially in summer and comes in at night. In winter she does go out but only for a little bit, mostly retreats to the basement where her food, litter box and way too many toys are. She's wasn't real cuddly with Jake my dog who passed away suddenly last November, but she would play with him. And they would tease each other, sometimes tag team voles or frogs under our deck. That was hilarious! Both were just very independent and with so much space and different places to be (chicken coops, greenhouse, garage, and barn) did their own thing. Jake was Farm Security (25lb Maltese mix) but he protected his chickens and ducks from every predator you can imagine. Foxes, coyotes, bobcat, raccoons, deer in our garden, even treed a bear one time. So the only security act I would like is to let us know if someone pulls in the driveway. Easy enough for every dog I've ever had. Obviously with such a big property a fenced in yard is not going to work. But I do have a long tie out both by the house and greenhouse. Otherwise leash is the way to go until we develop trust, respect, training, and rules are established. We do have some crates or kennels if that is what we decide to utilize. But like I said someone is pretty much always home, so we didn't use any with Jake. He mostly just went with us. Both my Dad and I have had several dogs in our lives. My Dad bred German Shepherds and Golden Retrievers when I was just a baby. And trained the German Shepherds for securing the property at our General Store.

 Me, but I guess I can share with my Dad if I really have too. He is retired and is pretty much always home, so the new addition to our family will not have to spend much time alone.

Why do you want a Pembroke?
 A close friend of ours had a Corgi 'Bubba'and he also had a farm, horses, cows, chickens, and goats. He even had dog bed in his tractor cab for him! And hewould ALWAYS be with him whether going on jobs for his plumbing business or just popping in to visit us (he lived just around the corner) And our house is small so a small-medium size dog is perfect for us. I have done some research on the breed and it seems like a great fit to our family.

Will handle mistakes Pembroke makes like this: 		I take a more positive reinforcement approach when it comes to training. It's going to be a process for both of us to learn our roles and establish a bond. But I prefer to take a calm approach, mistakes are a part of life. As long as you learn from them and do better next time that's fine with me. Forward is forward, even if it is only a step at a time.

 No swimming pools here. It's a farm, so chicken coops, greenhouse, garden, garage, and the remnants of our old barn (it burned down so the foundation and cow stanchions is pretty much all that is left.) Our house and buildings are on 5 acres, with the other 81 acres being the pine plantation. There are fire lanes throughout that part of the property. We have worked with the USDA and NRCS and harvested wood every 10-15 years or so as they recommended us to do. Our garden area with the greenhouse is 1 acre enclosed with an electric fence, we used to competitively grow giant pumpkins and sold organic produce every summer. But due to a decline in my Dad's health that hasn't happened in a few years.

Why do you want a Pembroke?
 Growing up in the horse world and rodeoing I have a lot of experience with corgi's, although I have never owned one I have owned heelers which is another challenging herding breed and I absolutely love them.

Activities planned with Pembroke:
 Go to the barn, where my dog can be in a pen while I ride, or if well behaved could be loose while I ride. We would also go visit my parents and their dogs, go on walks in town, haul with me to barrel races, etc.

Will handle mistakes Pembroke makes like this: 		Would try to correct the behavior with positive reinforcement. I like to teach my dogs to come and lay down, so when their is any unwanted behavior I can get them to come to me and focus on me and not the unwanted behavior.
